چکیده
Moringa Oleifera (MO), a plant from the family Moringacea is a major crop in Asia and Africa. MO has been studied for its health properties, attributed to the numerous bioactive components, including vitamins, phenolic acids, flavonoids, isothiocyanates, tannins and saponins, which are present in significant amounts in various components of the plant. Moringa Oleifera leaves are the most widely studied and they have shown to be beneficial in several chronic conditions, including hypercholesterolemia, high blood pressure, diabetes, insulin resistance, non-alcoholic liver disease, cancer and overall inflammation. In this review, we present information on the beneficial results that have been reported on the prevention and alleviation of these chronic conditions in various animal models and in cell studies. The existing limited information on human studies and Moringa Oleifera leaves is also presented. Overall, it has been well documented that Moringa Oleifera leaves are a good strategic for various conditions associated with heart disease, diabetes, cancer and fatty liver.

متن کاملExtractability of Rutin in Herbal Tea Preparations of Moringa stenopetala Leaves
The study examined the comparative rutin contents and antioxidant potentials of the two closely related Moringa species: the Ethiopian (Moringa stenopetala) and Indian Moringa (M. oleifera). It is demonstrated that M. stenopetala leaves extract was a far superior (more than five-fold better) antioxidant than M. oleifera. Rutin was the principal constituent of M. stenopetala leaves while the com...
متن کاملMoringa oleifera as an Anti-Cancer Agent against Breast and Colorectal Cancer Cell Lines
In this study we investigated the anti-cancer effect of Moringa oleifera leaves, bark and seed extracts. When tested against MDA-MB-231 and HCT-8 cancer cell lines, the extracts of leaves and bark showed remarkable anti-cancer properties while surprisingly, seed extracts exhibited hardly any such properties. Cell survival was significantly low in both cells lines when treated with leaves and ba...

متن کاملAntimicrobial Activity of Small Protein of Moringa Oleifera Leaves
Three fractions from the leaves of Moringa oleifera were obtained on Sephadex G-25 column chromatography. Single bands of these fractions were detected on Polyacrylamide SDS gel electrophoresis. An antibacterial action of small protein/peptide was tested against E. coli Kl. aerogenes, KI. pneumoniae, S. aureus, and B. subtilis. Fraction P1, P2 and P3 showed strong inhibitory activity against E....
